so, da waren die faulenzer also im urlaub. nee echt nett kann man sagen. sieht warm aus. Brit und Akari liegen hübsch in der sonne und ich liege hübsch im schatten, wie sich das für einen echten nordeuropäer gehört. für denjenigen, der’s nicht kennt: okinawa ist die allersüdlichste inselgruppe japans und liegt vom gefühl her relativ nah am äquator. daher die strandszene im oktober:

aloha. niedlicher flughafen hier, mit einblick in die bevorstehenden reisehighlights.
ishigaki:
die liebliche insel Ishigaki ist die vorletze japanische bastion vor dem nur noch 300 km entfernten taiwan. entsprechend grünblau-korallig ist also dass wasser hier, welches man hervorragend beschnorkeln, oder - falls man nicht schwimmen kann - mit glasboden-booten befahren kann um hernach die reichliche tierwelt zu bestaunen. in der hand habe ich zwei einsiedlerkrebse die wir gegeneinander kämpfen lassen wollten. leider haben sie nicht gekämpft.
iriomote

Als es uns auf ishigaki dann zu gemütlich geworden ist sind wir auf nach iriomote, die tatsächlich letzte bastion vor thailand. nach niedlichem lunch im hafen fuhren die drei fragezeichen per expressboot richtung untergehende sonne, die wohl malerischer nicht hätte sein können. iriomote ist im wesentlichen ein dschungel auf dem wasser und knapp 2000 ausgewilderten japanern. mit denen sind wir dann per paddelboot durch den mangrovensumpf gepaddelt. unser lustiger bunter freund liess es sich dann auch nicht nehmen, die erdbebensicherheit der bäume zu überprüfen. typisch japanisches verhalten wahrscheinlich. wir sind lieber schnorcheln gegangen. am strand gabs dann sand in sternchenform.

naha auf okinawa
ab für ne nacht ins box-hotel und weiter: dank reisebüro akari hatten wir noch einen tag aufenthalt in okinawa-jima, der hauptinsel der versprengten inselgruppe. dort gibt es das größte aquarium der welt und wir natürlich mittendrin. die scheibe die uns davor bewahrt, von mantas, haien und den dicken walhaien gesnackt zu werden ist übrigens satte 60 cm dick, 8 m hoch und 25 m lang. das haben die ordentlich hinbekommen. auch haizähne kann man anfassen. danach mit den gastfreundlichen einheimischen die überstandenen ängste verflüssigen, souveniers shoppen und schon sind wir wieder zurück im glück.
